Process re- engineering is a more radical approach to improvement than total quality management(TQM),because in a process re- engineering a business process is diagrammed in details, questioned and then completely redesigned instead of changing the existing system.process re- engineering eliminates unnecessary steps and reduces possibility error.
Process re- engineering is similar in some respects to TQM. one of the major difference is that TQM emphasizes with the people who work directly in the production process but process re- engineering emphasizes with the people who work directly in the production process and with the outside consultants.
