Short selling means selling of any share/debentures in the trading system of stock exchange without having ownership of those instruments or without possessing the same. Short selling is strictly prohibited in the securities law.
For Example,
Suppose, MR.Xhas only 50 Shares of bx.pharma .if he sales 100 shares in the trading system of stock exchange, then it will be called as short selling.
